He was a part of a special group of ERHS athletes that were very accomplished during this time. Playing in four sports at East Rock, Butler excelled in football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and doubled with baseball and track in the spring. Moving onto East Rockingham High School, Butler made an immediate impact.Īs the young Javon moved up through the ranks athletically, he continued his church involvement, and became a longstanding member of St. He attended Elkton Elementary School (K-5), then Elkton Middle School (6-8) where he played on several EMS teams throughout the year. He is currently competing in his final season of GSC Track & Field with Coach Nick Spino, and will be closing his football career with Coach Mike Kellar next fall. Now in the twilight of his college career, Butler is putting the finishing touches on the immense mark he has made at GSC. He will provide a welcoming learning environment and students will know him as an accessible, enthusiastic and caring teacher and coach." This was recently noted by Maureen Gildein, a professor in the Glenville Education Department. As an aspiring young future teacher and coach, he has made a strong impression on the GSC Faculty. Still, Butler's greatest ability may be in the classroom. He is simply one of the greatest all-around athletes to ever play at Glenville State College, and one of the greatest to ever come out of East Rockingham High School.
